Every issue gets its own page and description, assignee, due dates, links to related issues and other information. Issues allow you to request the necessary information, discuss details and agree on the results. All people assigned to the task are notified about new comments while decisions are recorded on the issue page. This means information won’t be lost in emails or messengers.
Issues for different departments and teams are separately grouped into what are known as queues. The settings for issues in each queue may vary. For example, teams using Agile methodology will need fields with information on sprints and iterations, while recruiters need fields detailing the profession or skills of an applicant. Tracker has several standard types of queues, as well as the option to customize queues for specific processes.
To make your issues easier to navigate, you can set up filters to display and group them in a list. This might be something like “all issues with high priority sorted by deadline”. A special query language can also be used to create custom search filters that suit your needs.
You can make work processes visual and more organized with the use of dashboards. A manager can collect information about the work of all teams involved in a project, while an assignee has a list of their issues with deadlines and priorities. In addition, every department queue has its own page with statistics reflecting its workload.
Companies that use Agile methodology can use Tracker in the same way as it supports all the required functions. Separate Agile tools like Task Boards can be used in Tracker in isolation from the methodology without knowing what story points are or how urgent they are.
You can keep track of time spent on issues in Tracker. This is especially useful when working with contractors. You can also use it to measure how much time is typically required for a particular type of issue and use that knowledge in the future when planning the distribution of resources.
Create templates with descriptions of typical issues. This saves time when creating routine issues and, if a new user joins the issue, the template will remind them of the necessary details. Templates are also useful in comments such as for frequently asked questions, providing instructions or posting a checklist of required documents.
You will know immediately if any changes occur on issue pages that are open in the browser, such as a new comment or a change in issue status. A red dot will appear on the browser tab indicating a change, while the page itself will display a notification informing you what changes have taken place.
Not to miss anything important in your workflow, you can set yourself issue reminders in Tracker for a specific time or day. Meanwhile, you can invite other users to comment on an issue when their help is urgently needed. The recipient will receive an email notification as well as being pinged within Tracker.
